How to Calculate the Correct Tie Strap Length
The formula for calculating the required tie strap length is based on wall width. For formwork with 5 cm edges, add 10 cm to the wall thickness. For 6 cm edges, add 12 cm.
For example, if the wall is 30 cm thick with 5 cm formwork edges, the required strap length is 40 cm. The 10 cm allowance is for pin and wedge connection on both sides.
Example: Shear wall 30 cm thick, 5 cm formwork edge on each side:
5 + 30 + 5 = 40 cm required strap length
